family of 6: adoption project session June 29, 2013

I met this family at Monticello Trail for our shoot.  This was an adoption session.  The second I met this family, they stole a little piece of my heart.  I had so much fun working with them and walked away feeling thankful to have had time to get to know them and capture them.  You can read a little bit about the Richmond’s story of how Gifty and Bismark became part of their family below.  Enjoy the photos–I know they’ll steal a little piece of your heart as well!  xo andrea

We always knew we would adopt – it was just a question of when and where.  In December of 2010, we flew to Ghana to meet our two youngest children.  Gifty charmed us with her huge smile and personality.  Bismark was more reserved at first, but warmed up to us quickly and couldn’t wait to show off his athletic ability.  The two of them stole our hearts from that very first day, and we knew they belonged in our family.  However, there were still months of paperwork to complete before they could be legally ours. Seven agonizing months later, our wait was rewarded, and they were finally home with us.  Every day has been an adventure and our new family has been blessed far beyond anything we could have imagined.

Love maternity sessions–there’s just something about the expectation and excitement of a new baby on the way!  They are just so much fun!  We shot at The University of Richmond.  So many great spots to shoot!  Enjoy the photos of this beautiful. growing family!

  superman June 25, 2013

I had not worked with this little guy since he was just a little baby.  Needless to say, he’s changed just a bit!  We had so much fun playing in his backyard–bouncing on his trampoline with his giant dinosaur and hanging out in his very cool treehouse!  He and his parents were a so much fun to work with!  Hope you enjoy a peek into their world.  xo andrea

adoption shoot: pure love! June 21, 2013

Ok, so when I decided to offer these adoption sessions, I did it to give to and bless others–to give back to families who are giving SO much to another human being.  I did NOT realized just how blessed and touched I would be with each shoot that I do.  I love, love, LOVE doing these.  I walk away with a full, happy heart.  This shoot was no exception.  They  were so fun, sweet and loving!  Thank you to this family for blessing my heart in a very special way.  Their story is below, please enjoy!  xo andrea

“Every child is a gift. Every time you hear your little one say, “I love you, Momma” or “I love you Daddy”…there is no greater gift than that! Our adopted son freely declared this to us after only 2 weeks of being in his forever home! James is from the USA. Though our sweet blondie did not come to us by birth…he was conceived in our hearts and delivered to us through a miracle. It was meant to be! We are so thankful that our home is filled with the happy noise of 5…and we love you, James!!!”

a day in the field June 20, 2013

This family came to see me from Alexandria!  It’s always a huge compliment when people come to see me from a distance.  We had a great time playing and taking photos.  Have I mentioned how much I love photographing twins?!   Enjoy!  xo andrea
