|introducing….Shack!!||January 25, 2012|
Well hello there! Yes, it’s been a while, I know…
This winter has kept me busy! I’ve been busy traveling quite a bit, I’ve been busy with Scout, as well as other shoots (that still need to be blogged!), and, I’ve also been busy gearing up for another exciting year! The calendar is booking up, with several months almost full or maxed out!
One other very exciting thing I’ve been working on the past couple of months is transitioning in a new photographer! Her name is Shack, and she is wonderful! Some of you have already met her, as she’s been coming on a few shoots here and there with me. Shack will be my associate photographer who will begin taking on shoots in April. She will specialize in senior photography, as well as capturing families and kiddos. Shack and I will be focusing together on perfecting and creating amazing newborn photography as well as styled shoots for commercial use or mini sessions. I am thrilled to have another perspective and creative mind to work with. I know we will be fierce together–and maybe a little dangerous! Can’t wait to see what we create this coming year! Stay tuned…
I thought to get to know her a little bit better, I’d ask her a few questions…
Tell us a little bit about who you are:
S: I am a mother.
I am a sister.
I am an athlete.
I am a teacher.
I am a boo-boo kisser.
I am a dancer.
I am a beat boxer.
I am a wife.
I am a friend.
I am a Child of God.
I am a minimalist.
What is your favorite icecream flavor?
S: Would Chips and Salsa count instead?
What is your dream vacation?
S: With kids–in a wintry cabin somewhere. A place with lots of snow for sledding and snowboarding. Lots of warm fuzzy slippers, snuggly knitted hats, and cuddly fleece clothing to wear as we sip hot chocolate after a day outside! Lots of books to read together as a family and then some time knitting and listening to my kids play and wrestle with their Daddy.
Without kiddos–Woods/Mountains again with Wesley the most incredible person I know. Time to take lots of snuggly naps together and dream up creative things to do with our children and our future.
What do you like to do in your free time?
S: Free time? What is free time when you have three children under the age of five, two being 2 and under? If I ever get free time I love to get outside to run, hike, or ride a bike. If I had more free time I would be back on my women’s soccer team. If I have free time I like to create and find new outlets to express the swirling thoughts that go on inside of my head.
I’ve asked Shack to show us a little bit of her favorite work thus far:
My mother passed away suddenly when I was younger and I love looking back at old photos of she and I. I wonder what she is thinking about me when I observe our interaction in those thin slips of glossy paper. So as I dive deeper into photography I am always finding new things that I love. I’ll always love capturing families interacting with one another. There is something about being able to snap a photograph of a moment that would have been lost otherwise. There is energy in our interactions with one another, and anytime I can freeze that I know I will love my work.
