what a fun family!
I really enjoyed working with this cute, sweet family! They were so fun and had AMAZING style!! The moment I walked into their home I could tell it was going to be a great session! Mom of cute little baby happens to be an amazing artist named Sigrid Eilertson owner of Sugarfut–an awesome company that does beautiful artwork, paintings, and murals. Their house was drenched with here style–amazing murals, hand made pillows and curtains, gorgeous color everywhere! It is always an extra special honor to be called by another artist to capture their family–to know someone so artistic admires what I do is a huge compliment! Anyway, if you are looking to have a mural painted for your child’s bedroom/nursery or are wanting a unique piece of local art to hang in your home, she’s the one to call hands down! You can reach her at Sugar_fut@hotmail.com. Now, on to the pictures of this lovely family!

Hanging out on dad’s shoulders:

Amazing blue eyes and adorable cheeks!

You can see a hint of the mural Sigrid has done in her son’s room–very beautiful!

We too some time out to water the garden.

I don’t know what it is about this photo, but I absolutely love it! I think it kind of reminds me of something you’d see in Vanity Fair or Vogue. . .

His mommy actually made his cute little shirt too! Such a little cutie pie!

Playing with dad.

Sigrid had these fun sunglasses I wanted to try and capture–very fun and retro.

Love how this turned out too! Such a sweet family!

Anyway, that’s all for now! I just returned home from another Maryland newborn shoot–should hopefully have something to share soon! Have a good one!

caution: your heart might melt!
I must admit, I am a bit on the blue side tonight. For two reasons: First, I just realized I left one of my favorite lenses at a park after a shoot–I am sure it is ruined from the rain, and may have even gotten picked up by someone else–so that was a big, fat bummer!
Secondly, my sweet little kiddos left yesterday and will be gone for almost two weeks! I knew they were leaving next week to go and hang out with my in laws, but, my parents unexpectedly took them home with them when they came to visit this past weekend! I should be out partying and enjoying my new found freedom, bit the truth is, I really miss them and am a little sad. The house is quiet and clean, no one asking me for a snack or to watch a movie, no fighting or dried up toothpaste in the bathroom sink, but also no hugs and kisses, or I love you’s! Proofing this session just really made me realize how fast they grow up and full they make my life! Okay, so I’ll stop with the pity party and get on to some images. . .
I know I posted this image earlier, but can you blame me for waniting to post it again???? This little newborn was absolutely scrumptious! I had to travel quite a few hours to meet him, but it was well worth it!

I love how this turned out!

I think this is my absolute favorite for the whole session! I love the little white flowers behind him!

Hanging with mom. . .

and dad. . .

and there is nothing better than capturing the awe and amazement parents have over their tiny creation!

And finally, I have to get up VERY early tomorrow to head up to Maryland for another newbie, so, I’ll leave you with this adorable shot. . .until next time!

twinsies!
Another set of twins! I love photographing twins! So cute and fun! Typically I find twins to almost be easier to photograph that just one baby–Maybe because they are used to having to share the attention of their parents…I don’t know. Aren’t these two just adorable–in their very well coordinated outfits–kudos to mom for doing such a great job!

This was her new trick she just learned how to do!
Hanging with mom and dad.

Then we took a little rest…

Recharged an ready to go!

This little guy was just a sweetheart!

And very advanced! Look at him sitting up at only 4 months old!

Someone had had enough–what you can’t see is that her dad is making the same face on the other side! Ha Ha! He was a fun guy with a great sense of humor, so I know he’ get a kick out of that!

Ready to go!

Thanks to this adorable family for allowing me to work with your little sweeties! I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend–I plan to!

barkley’s extreme makeover
So every summer we do this to our poor dog. . .We know it makes him (and us) happier, just not prettier. Makeovers are supposed to make you look better–not like rat dog!

Okay, so he is still pretty cute!

This next one is gonna get blown up pretty big!
My two boys–Love it!

wedded bliss
Well, get ready because I can honestly say this is my longest post ever! With this being my first wedding, I went a little crazy with the images–just too much to share! So I hope you enjoy–hunker down and grab a cold drink! They are such a sweet couple and awesome individuals! I was honored that they trusted me with such an important day!
I also need to add that I had the help of another very talented photographer/graphic artist: Lorena Perez–you can find her here–she is fantastic! My awesome husband was also there to help show off the images on our very cool slide show program! So, thanks you two, I truly could not have done this without your help!
Ironically, this post comes only one day shy of my 14th wedding anniversary–so it really hits home for me as I think back to my own wedding!
I would like to also say that I am now officially photographing weddings–now accepting clients for 2009. I have been hesitant in the past to take them on, as I don’t want to stop the portrait photography that I do, so I will be only doing a select few each year. If you are interested, please call soon to book your date!
First, a few details. . .the bouquet,

the shoes,

and the cake.

meet george & my schedule for the rest of 2008
Meet George, Andrea Shirey Photography’s new office manager. . .

George also happens to be my husband, best friend and now my coworker–hopefully the first two will stay intact as we enter this phase of working side by side (ha ha!) Many of my clients have already had correspondence with George. But I wanted to put face with the voice on the other end of the line and let you know he will take great care of you! He will be the one handling orders, most emails, phone calls, and any other admin. sort of stuff. This is so exciting for us! It’s a sign of growth and stepping it up to the next level in this wonderful business! It also frees me up to shoot, shoot, shoot–which I am soo excited about.
I also wanted to let everyone know what the schedule for the remainder of 2008 is looking like. It has been a very busy first half of 2008, and we are so grateful! It looks like it is going to continue. . .
August has only one or two more sessions available. September - November is booking up fast–so now is the time to call if you want to get on the schedule. Our last shoot for the year ( with the exception of maternity/newborn sessions) will be November 16. We will be offering custom Christmas cards again this year. We had so much success with those last year and are excited to offer even more variety this holiday season! We will hopefully have those samples ready in August or September to view. We will also be offering Mini Session Mondays for the month of October–these will be small sessions with the goal of capturing a handful of images for Christmas cards–I will share more on that at a later date.
Please call soon if you are hoping to get a session in 2008! Have a good one!

curly Q
This little guy had the cutest curls ever–and some gorgeous deep brown eyes to go with his curls! See for yourself. . .

He LOVED his little trike and was very good a cruising around on it! He was a busy little guy and kept me on my toes the whole time! We were all drenched with sweat by the end of our session! But I think all of the hard work was well worth it!

Cuddles with mom and dad.

The above shot was looking out over the Potomac.

We headed back home for a few. . . little feet. . .love em!

Someone was pretty tired at the end–actually, we all were! I think mom and dad were going to take a nap too after I left!

Anyway, that’s all for now. Sorry it’s been a while since my last post–tired + busy= not a lot of time to post! My next post will be my first wedding EVER, so stay tuned! Have a good weekend!

good times. good friends.
We had our very good friends up for the 4th this past weekend and had a great time! It just so happens that they are expecting their third in a few months–and of course we had to take some photos! We tried to squeeze it all in one session–family shots, sibling shots, belly shots, cuddle shots. . . I’ll be photographing their new little one too–so anything we missed, we can make up for then! But I think we did pretty well!
Their two cuties. . .

Love this shot!

Mom and dad. . .

A sweet moment between the brothers.

These next two are so fun. I love the interaction and sheer happiness on their faces!

Once we did the family thing, we moved on to maternity. This was a great location that we just happened to see on our way to our shooting location–it was some one’s yard, but just too perfect to pass up! Turned out beautifully–worth trespassing for! We were just hoping no one was going to come out of the house with a shot gun!

I LOVE how this turned out! There is something so sexy, yet motherly! Maternity hottness!!!

Anyway, that’s all for now kids! Be back in a few!

sweet family
This was such a great family! So easy and laid back! We truly got way too many great shots–ha ha!

And these boys–I loved working with these guys! They made my job very easy!

A little croc action going on.

A sweet family shot.

I don’t know what it is about this shot, but I LOVE it!

Both boys have such beautiful eyes!

A sweet moment between mom and dad . . .

Last one! I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July! I will not be posting again until sometime next week, as I REALLY need to take a mini break and hang with the fam!
