Scout is a great way to find all of the wonderful local goods and services Charlottesville has to offer!  If you are looking for that perfect piece of jewelery or gift, a great local piece of art to hang in your home or perhaps a great place to dine…Scout Charlottesville is the perfect place to find it!  Scout is all about supporting your local vendors, which I LOVE.  I mean, Urban Outfitters or Anthropologie are great for some stuff, but if you have the choice, why not support the local shops and help keep our little town thriving!  Not to mention, your originallity factor will go up greatly with something purchased locally instead of a big old chain store!!  So go on over and give Scout a visit–you can thank me later!  Oh, and yes, Scout’s FABULOUS logo was done by a very talented local designer whom I can’t wait to tell you more about, more on her later…

I promise to get back to blogging on a regular basis very soon–it has been a VERY busy winter season for me, which has left me little time and engery for blogging.  I have a lot to share from the past couple of months and have a bunch on the horizon that I will be sharing as well.  Don’t forget, you can become a fan of Andrea Shirey Photography on Facebook right here!!  Hope everyone is enjoying the snow…

Sorry so long no post, but I have been a busy, busy girl and it’s only going to get crazier with the warm weather!  But I wanted to pop in real quick and let you know that my canvas printing company is offering me a 20% discount on all canvases.  Sooooo, I wanted to pass this great opportunity on to all of you!  This is a great opportunity to get the canvases you’ve been considering!!  I typically show all clients these beautiful creations but, if you haven’t seen these awesome, amazing pieces of art–you can see quite a few pieces of my work at Petit Bebe, Jefferson OB/GYN, and Momentum Pilates Studio.  Because my printing company ends this sale on MARCH 21, 2009–I can make no exceptions, so if you want one, please don’t wait until it’s too late.

We continue to have a wonderful, relaxing and rejuvinating time at the beach!  While here we have developed a new obsession that keeps us combing the beach for hours–Sharks teeth!!  Since this photo was taken, we have found many, many more of all shapes and sizes.  But here are a few–as you can see, there are a couple that are quite large!

I know everyone is beginning to shop for the “perfect” gifts for family and friends.  I just want to remind everyone that we do offer gift certificates–and they make FABULOUS gifts.  I’ve had sooo many men buy their wives maternity or family sessions for Christmas–or grown children buying them for their parents as gifts.  They truly do make the perfect gift!  If you are interested in giving your loved ones a 2009 photo session, please email or call, and we’ll get one out to you!  And, because photos make posts so much more exciting here is one that I just love–

Okay, so they are finally ready!  It has taken me a little longer than planned to get my card templates posted–I have SO many to choose from this year that it took a while to get them ready!  I tried really hard to get a little of everything this year–modern, classic, simple, fun, retro and I am SO excited with the collections I have!  Take a look at a few favorites below–All or these, plus, several more can be found at my website–go to “holiday” in the menu bar and then enter the password “holiday” to view all of the templates and listen to one of my favorite holiday songs–if nothing else, it’ll get you in the mood for the holidays!!  It also has all the pricing info and ordering deadlines there as well!  Enjoy!

Yup!  That is right.  We are headed off for some MUCH needed R&R.  For 8 whole days I will sit on the beach, swim in the pool, PLAY with my kids, take naps, take long walks on the beach, and not touch a computer!  We have been looking forward to this for several months! 

Our office will be closed from August 28th - September 14. I will not be reachable by phone or email–and will return all emails and phone calls upon my return.  If you are interested in booking a session, please send and email or leave a voice mail with the dates you are interested in–booking priority will be given in the order the messages are received.  We only have a few spots still available for the rest of 2008–so I wouldn’t wait too long.  I am really looking forward to a busy, fun fall with everyone and plan to come back refreshed and renewed from my little jaunt!

I did not have time to post or finish all of my Holiday cards as of yet.  However, I did want to mention my Holiday mini sessions (I know, I used the same photo as last year.  Can ya blame me?)

Meet George, Andrea Shirey Photography’s new office manager. . . 

George also happens to be my husband, best friend and now my coworker–hopefully the first two will stay intact as we enter this phase of working side by side (ha ha!)  Many of my clients have already had correspondence with George.  But I wanted to put face with the voice on the other end of the line and let you know he will take great care of you!   He will be the one handling orders, most emails, phone calls, and any other admin. sort of stuff.  This is so exciting for us!  It’s a sign of growth and stepping it up to the next level in this wonderful business!  It also frees me up to shoot, shoot, shoot–which I am soo excited about. 

I also wanted to let everyone know what the schedule for the remainder of 2008 is looking like.  It has been a very busy first half of 2008, and we are so grateful! It looks like it is going to continue. . .

August has only one or two more sessions available.  September - November is booking up fast–so now is the time to call if you want to get on the schedule.  Our last shoot for the year ( with the exception of maternity/newborn sessions) will be November 16.  We will be offering custom Christmas cards again this year.  We had so much success with those last year and are excited to offer even more variety this holiday season!  We will hopefully have those samples ready in August or September to view.  We will also be offering Mini Session Mondays for the month of October–these will be small sessions with the goal of capturing a handful of images for Christmas cards–I will share more on that at a later date.
